The blurb of this book intrigued me because it was about a widowed lady who meets a man after being single for two years. Second chance love is my favorite thing to read about.

I really liked Sky, she was a very sweet person who has gone through something really traumatic which completely shattered her world. She is beginning to heal though and sets out on a road trip for a bit of a mini break away from her every day life.

Fletcher lives in a small town and has a successful security business that keeps him busy. He is ex-Navy SEAL and has never had any really significant romantic relationships with anyone. He has his grandfather, 'Old Man' living nearby and he has a dog to keep him company but apart from the he just enjoys being alone.

Sky ends up in a situation that requires being rescued by Fletcher and wakes up in his home feeling pretty confused and disoriented. Sky is a beautiful woman and this does not escape Fletcher's notice. He is completely drawn to this gorgeous woman who he just feels a strong desire to protect. Fletcher is very much an alpha male with a dominant and sometimes very jealous side to him. Sky is really attracted to him too and battles with her feelings a bit.

She has been alone for so long and misses the intimacy that a relationship offers. Fletcher just makes her feel so safe and he is very easy on the eye. These two just seem to click. She is everything he never knew he was looking for until she came into his home and filled it with her laugh, her smell and just her presence.

"You my darlin', are too damn cute for words. I haven't laughed like that in years. You're the most refreshing thing I have seen or been around in a long time. Sky, you amaze me." - Fletcher.

Could this be her second chance at love again?

I really enjoyed the bones of this story. At times I felt like there was a lot of external drama going on with other characters in this story that I didn't think was necessary, it just created distraction from Fletcher and Sky's story. Some drama is okay but sometimes less is more.

Having said that, I did have fun reading this and the interactions between this couple.

This is a good read about finding love after you've been widowed and suffered a great loss. I enjoyed reading it.

Skylar, or Sky, lost her husband because of a drunk driver, 2 years ago. She hasn't let him go yet. She can't do it. Even thinking about dating someone else makes her feel like she's cheating on him. She wants to live again and start her life, she just doesn't know where to start or how to even do that.

Her best friend Terri, has been with her through all of this. She really wants the best for Sky and knows that she just needs a push to jump start her living again. So, in order to do this, she springs a week long trip to a resort in Florida for Sky to take alone. So that she can find herself again. She is a great best friend. And she is funny as all get out.

Sky knows that there's no arguing with her friend. So she goes. There's a huge storm and she gets lost and is in a bad car accident. But that car accident changed her life!

Fletcher is an ex Navy Seal. He has dealt with being the only survivor of his team on a mission gone bad. He isn't living either. He is numb. But he saves Sky and nurses her back to health. He comes alive again. They are actually pretty perfect for each other.

"Because I want to help you. I feel as if I've known you my whole life; I know how strange that sounds because I know I've never seen or met you before. I can't shake this feeling. I'm drawn to you. There's this connection-don't you feel it?"

These two bring life back to each other and help the other heal so much.

This relationship isn't easy for them. He is a caveman alpha and she puts him in his place. Besides the ghosts of the past, they also have to deal with Heather, Fletcher's ex booty call that has turned into a major psycho.

I really liked the characters and how the authors showed Sky and Fletcher both finding themselves again. Oh and you can't forget about Earl, or "old man". He is freaking awesome.
We meet Sky, she has just lost her husband, for the past two years she has grieved and merely existed this is until her best friend Terri has had enough of seeing Sky plod through life, so she pays for Sky to get away to Florida for a relaxing break, the on the way things take a dramatic turn as she gets caught up in a storm, this is where she meets Fletcher, ex navy seal now private investigator.
Fletcher enjoys a simple life and one of peace without complications and doesn't want things to change, he has seen so much in the war, friends losing their lives, he blames himself for their deaths.

The night he comes across Sky he is on his way home after having a bad day, he sees that Sky has had a car accident so rescues her, takes her home with him to check for injuries, after she wakes up she starts to really notice Fletcher in a way she hasn't noticed anyone since her husband.
Will things go smoothly?
This book was beautifully written, good storyline, I really liked Sky and Fletcher was HOT!!
One thing this book does show is that if you work hard enough you can overcome anything that life throws at you, I would read more from this author.
